Chinese Language and Culture Easter Camp 2010, Europe

With the request and support from The Chinese Language & Culture Education Foundation of China, the UKAPCE and 歐華聯會文工體 are to co-organize the first European Chinese Language and Culture Easter Camp between 4th April and 16th April 2010. The camp will be held in the city of Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England.

The aims of this 12 days study programme is to inspire the children of overseas Chinese in Europe to learn more about the Chinese language and to raise their interest in Chinese culture, to strengthen the children’s ego of their ethnic origin and offer opportunity to those who are particularly interested in Chinese culture to learn more about our traditions and customs. 

The organizers have mastermind a wide range of activities consist of topics from the introduction of Chinese culture, Chinese communication, classic recitation, calligraphy, painting, martial arts, music, dance, film, arts and crafts. Through these activities your children will gain better understanding of their mother language, the culture and traditions of China and their roots. In addition to these activities, a weekend of sight-seeing has been arranged to see Hadrian's Wall, Alnwick Castle (A Harry Potter film set), and other Newcastle attractions, integrating teaching at tour. 

Food, accommodation and learning costs for the " European Chinese Language and Culture Easter Camp ", are fully covered by the Chinese Language & Culture Education Foundation of China. Participants will travel to the camp at their own expense.

Newcastle upon Tyne is a metropolitan city of Tyne and Wear , in North East of England . Situated on the north bank of the River Tyne , the city has 270,000 population and 112square kilometer . Among its main icons are Newcastle United F.C. , a Football League Championship team, and the Tyne Bridge . Newcastle is only 2 hours driving from Edinburgh and from city of York as well, 3 hours train from London King’s Cross station. There are four direct fight lines from the following European cites: Amsterdam, Pairs, Rome and Barcelona. Besides, in the city centre, there are public transportations such as metro and buses.
