In order to stimulate students’ interest and encourage them in learning Chinese Idioms, the U.K. Association for the Promotion of Chinese Education (UKAPCE) , working partnership with Oxford High School, is holding the 4th Worldwide “ H an d an Trophy” Competition of Original Chinese Idioms, U.K. Regional Competitions , .

The participants will be divided into 2 groups:

Group A is for beginners. S tudent s are encouraged to study th e story and explan ation of the idioms.

Group B is for students who already have a basic knowledge of Chinese Idioms. Apart from above, student s would also know the implication and usage of th e included idiom s .

There are 10 commonly used Chinese Idioms which can be download ed from www .ukapce.org .uk Exercises will also be found from the website for students to practice. Please email idiom @ukapce.org.uk for test papers. The test should be carried out under the supervision of teachers. Teachers then inform APCE the result by filling in the Mark sheet which can also be downloaded from the internet site. The closing date is before 31^st May 2010 .

Prize : Each student who passes the test will be awarded with a certificate. The winners will have the opportunity to enter for the final stage in London . The winner school will be awarded by “ Handan Trophy” a special vase from Handan .
